Northern Manufacturing, a worldwide leader in stainless steel fabrication, is seeking a mechanically inclined, hands-on technician to join our team on 3rd shift.
3rd Shift Hours: 7:30pm to 6:00am, Monday-Thursday
This is a hands-on position focused on custom, complex projects. This is not a repetitive assembly line job. We’re looking for a problem-solver with a mechanical mindset, capable of adapting to new challenges every day and working both independently and collaboratively to bring unique customer projects to life.
Responsibilities include:
- Install and assemble mechanical components for custom-fabricated projects (gearboxes, motors, drums, etc.).
- Interpret mechanical blueprints to follow detailed build instructions and ensure proper installation of parts.
- Inspect your work and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, accurate builds.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during the build process.
- Perform a variety of hands-on tasks such as finishing edges, tapping holes, and operating small equipment.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and other tools to move materials safely.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, lift, climb, balance, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
At Northern Manufacturing, no two days are the same. You’ll be working on unique, challenging projects that require creativity, adaptability, and a strong mechanical aptitude. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving problems, using their hands, and taking pride in helping make high-quality products.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined with experience using hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints (preferred).
- Understanding of metal components and fabrication environments.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, self-starting mindset.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift experience preferred but not required.
Note: This position is not an assembly line or mass-production role. It requires mechanical knowledge, blueprint reading, and experience working on custom builds or fabrication projects.
