The Challenge: A Hostile Environment of Heat, Stress, and Corrosion

Engineers specifying components for high-temperature service face a relentless battle against physics and chemistry. At elevated temperatures, materials are under constant attack from multiple failure mechanisms.

Creep & Stress Rupture

A “silent killer” where constant stress, even below yield strength, causes slow deformation and eventual catastrophic failure.

Thermal & Creep-Fatigue

Frequent start-up and shutdown cycles generate internal stresses, initiating cracks and shortening component service life dramatically.

High-Temperature Corrosion

A constant chemical assault from oxidation and sulfidation, which can rapidly destroy materials and lead to catastrophic failure.

Our Solution: Certified Processes for Mission-Critical Reliability

The performance of high-temperature alloys hinges entirely on the quality of the fabrication. We fulfill this potential through metallurgical expertise, meticulous process control, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

  • Specialized Welding Procedures: Our AWS & ASME-Certified welders use GTAW with controlled low heat inputs and stringer bead techniques to prevent defects like hot cracking and distortion in sensitive alloys.
  • Material Expertise & Handling: We have hands-on experience with 309, 310, 321H, 347H, and Hastelloy®. We use dedicated tools and segregated work areas to prevent contamination.
  • Advanced Quality Assurance (NDT): Our on-staff CWI & ASNT Level III expert verifies weld integrity using LPT, RT, and UT methods to detect any surface or internal flaws.

Frequently Asked Questions

Preheating slows the cooling rate, which can create brittle phases and compromise the material’s corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

310H offers superior oxidation resistance at extreme temperatures. 347H is “stabilized” to prevent corrosion after welding in mid-range temperatures.

It’s a combined attack where high-temperature creep damage is accelerated by stress cycles, causing components to fail much faster than predicted.
