Quality Built Into the Process, Not Inspected In at the End
Northern Manufacturing holds ISO 9001:2015 certification, ASME BPVC Section IX qualified weld procedures and personnel, AWS D1.6 structural welding compliance, a full-time Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) on staff, and ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level III Non-Destructive Testing capability. These aren’t wall decorations – they define how we plan, execute, and verify every stainless steel fabrication that leaves our 160,000 sq ft facility in Oak Harbor, Ohio.
What Each Certification Means for Your Project
ISO 9001:2015
Our quality management system is third-party audited and certified to the current ISO 9001:2015 standard. For David in procurement, this means a documented, repeatable process – supplier qualification reports have a standard to cite. For Eleanor in engineering, it means weld procedures, material traceability, and inspection records are controlled documents, not tribal knowledge.
ASME BPVC Section IX
Our weld procedures and welders are qualified to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX. This governs the qualification of welding procedures and welders for pressure-containing applications. If your project involves pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or ASME code-stamped work, our procedures are already in place.
AWS D1.6 Structural Welding – Stainless Steel
Structural stainless fabrications are welded to AWS D1.6, the structural welding code specific to stainless steel. 60+ of our craftsmen hold AWS certifications. This matters when your structural drawings call out AWS compliance explicitly – we don’t need to scramble to qualify.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) On Staff
We employ a full-time AWS Certified Welding Inspector. The CWI reviews weld procedures, oversees welder qualifications, and performs in-process and final weld inspections. Having this capability in-house – not contracted out – means inspection happens on our schedule, not a third party’s.
ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level III NDT
Non-Destructive Testing to ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level III. We can perform and document NDT internally rather than outsourcing it, which matters when your spec requires it and your schedule doesn’t have room for a third-party queue.
Quality Resources
- Certifications & Compliance – Full certification documentation, CAGE code (137T8), SAM UEI, and compliance references.
- Fabrication Inspection & Verification – How we inspect work in-process and at final: laser projector layouts, dimensional verification, and PMI.
- 3D Model-Based Inspection & Planning – How we use 3D models as the basis for layout, inspection, and first-article verification rather than paper drawings alone.
If your project has specific QC requirements – hold points, traveler documentation, first-article inspection reports – tell us when you quote. We build the plan before fabrication starts, not after a problem surfaces.
